Trond Kallevåg is an award-winning Norwegian guitarist and composer whose music blends Norwegian and American folk traditions with ambient textures, pedal steel guitar, and cinematic storytelling.

 

His critically acclaimed albums Bedehus & Hawaii and Amerikabåten were both listed as one of Bandcamp’s Best International Jazz Albums of the Year, and his work has been praised by Radiofrance, FIP, CultureJazz, A Green Man Review, and Salt Peanuts.

 

Kallevåg has performed across Europe and the U.S., including an Official Showcase at Folk Alliance International 2024. His music is known for its warm, melancholic atmosphere and narrative depth, drawing on historical images, migration stories, and Norwegian coastal culture.

His latest album Minnesota (Hubro, 2025) continues Kallevåg’s exploration of Norwegian–American musical ties — weaving together jazz, ambient folk textures, pedal steel guitar, and a cinematic, melancholic tone.

 

Inspired by the letters and photographs of Norwegian migrants who settled in the U.S. Midwest in the 1800s, the album brings together three of Norway’s leading improvisers.
