About

Trond Kallevåg is at the forefront of Norwegian guitarists and composers, celebrated for his ability to blend Norwegian and American musical traditions into cinematic, atmospheric soundscapes. His music tells stories of cultural roots, historical narratives, and personal reflections, drawing listeners into a poetic and immersive experience.

Kallevåg’s acclaimed debut album, See Me Another Day (2017), showcased his innovative approach to Norwegian musical heritage. He gained international recognition with Bedehus & Hawaii (2019), a record praised by Bandcamp as one of the 15 best international jazz albums of the year. Critics have likened his warm Fender tones and lyrical compositions to legends like Ry Cooder and Bill Frisell.

In 2021, Fengselsfugl (Prison Bird) delved into themes of isolation and hope, inspired by Kallevåg’s work as a music teacher in Oslo Prison. Featuring Geir Sundstøl and David Wallumrød, the album’s cinematic and heartfelt sound was widely praised by Norwegian and international media.

With Amerikabåten (2023), Kallevåg continued to explore the interplay between Norwegian and American folk traditions, inspired by the stories of Norwegian emigrants. The album further cemented his reputation as one of Norway’s most reflective and innovative guitarists.
